Starting in January 2026 KMOS PBS will be increasing its minimum membership level to $8 per month or $96 per year. This increase will ensure that we can continue to bring you the quality PBS programming you are accustomed to both on-air and online.

Q: Why are you increasing the price of membership?

This membership increase will ensure that KMOS PBS can continue to bring you the quality programs you enjoy both on-air and online.  This is the first major membership increase for KMOS PBS in more than a decade. 

Q: Will there be regular membership increases after this?

We do not have any plans for any additional membership increases at this time.

Q: Are other PBS stations also increasing their membership level?

Yes. Many PBS stations have already increased their membership level before this. KMOS PBS endeavored to maintain its membership level for as long as possible.

Q: Is this increase intended to replace the previously approved federal funding that Congress rescinded?

No. This increase is not meant to replace the recent loss of federal funding. It is a separate adjustment to help KMOS keep pace with rising costs and continue serving our community.

To put the federal funding loss in perspective: even if every KMOS member from the past year gave an additional $36, it would replace only about 20% of the rescinded federal support. Fully replacing that funding through membership alone would require annual memberships of more than $300 per person, which is not our goal.

Q: I am already donating more than $8 per month, do I need to do anything?

No. All members who are donating more than the minimum amount will not see a change in their membership level. Thank you for your generosity.  

Q: I am a monthly donor, do I need to do anything to update my membership level?

No. Unless you tell us otherwise, your membership will renew at the new level automatically on your yearly anniversary date. For example, if you donated on May 15, 2025 your membership will not change until May 15, 2026.

Q: Can I increase my donation now?

Yes.  You can update your membership level at any time by visiting this page.
