Did you know you can make a charitable gift to KMOS-TV directly from your IRA?

KMOS PBS can accept donations directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or IRA Charitable Rollover. This can be a tax-efficient way to support KMOS programming and potentially satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you are of a certain age.

Here's how an IRA gift to PBS typically works:

  • Eligibility: You must be 70½ years old or older to make a QCD. The donation needs to come directly from your IRA to a qualified charity like PBS.
  • Benefits:
    • Reduced taxable income: The amount donated through a QCD is not counted as taxable income.
    • Satisfy RMDs: For those aged 73 or older, a QCD can count towards your annual Required Minimum Distribution, potentially reducing or eliminating the need to take a taxable distribution. Note that while you can make QCDs starting at 70½, they don't count towards your RMD until you reach the RMD age, which was raised to 73 by the Secure 2.0 Act.

How to Make a Gift:

Contact your IRA administrator (custodian/trustee) and inform them you wish to make a QCD to KMOS-TV.

Then give us a call at 800-753-3436 so that we can be sure to be on the lookout and apply your IRA distribution  to the appropriate membership.

Your support is greatly appreciated.
