Shawn Jones is in his tenth year as the host and coordinating producer of Sportspage on KMOS-TV. In addition to his weekly work with Sportspage, Jones is the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations for the University of Central Missouri Athletic Department. He is the radio play-by-play voice of UCM athletics, and he oversees the areas of marketing, broadcasting, promotions, special fund-raising events and media relations in the athletic department, as well as the emcee for all special events. He also currently serves as the Chair of the NCAA Division II Football National Committee and is the only non-athletic director or head football coach on the committee.
In his time at UCM, Jones has been recognized by the NCAA for "Ideas that Work", several Mules and Jennies teams have placed in the top ten in NCAA-II in attendance, the "Celebrating Central Missouri" Athletic Auction has raised significant funds for UCM Athletics, Corporate Sponsorships total over $100,000 per year and he has been asked to serve on NCAA panels in Washington D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia lending his expertise to the membership in the areas of marketing, media relations and broadcasting.
From 1999-2000, Jones worked for ESPN Regional in the University of Kansas Athletic Department. He served as host of the "Marian Washington Show", and as an announcer for Jayhawk Baseball. In addition to his work at KU, Jones served as the play-by-play voice of UMKC women's basketball in 1999. In 1998, he was the Business Development Manager for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
He began his career at KOKO radio in Warrensburg while a student at Central Missouri. He served as an announcer for Warrensburg High School sports, and Central Missouri sports. Jones, a native of Moberly, Missouri, is a 1997 graduate of Central Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication. Shawn and his wife Melissa, who holds an MBA from UCM, have a daughter, Lauren, and a son, Hayden.
